Hitchhiking is generally well-received in rural areas of Pennsylvania. I-80 in particular has many good hitchhiking spots and is not heavily patrolled by police, and should be considered the optimal way of hitching across the state.

Hitchhiking is legal in Pennsylvania when not on the roadway.
